The walking and trekking opportunities are endless. Ranging from easy strolls from our front door, one of which is up to La Chapelle Miegecoste, rewarded by superb views of Aspet and Le Pic du Cagire mountain to longer and more strenuous walks and climbs in the neighbouring mountains. Paraglyding is popular here and there are several businesses offering this unique experience utilising magnificent locations.
The pink city of Toulouse and capital of Occitanie with the Canal du Midi and beautiful romanesque architecture is an hours drive, or train journey. The Elevated city of Pau, affording superb views towards the Pyrenees chain and home to a motor circuit that hosts numerous racing events throughout the year is just over an hours drive. Foix old town is a particularly lovely place for a stroll, with its narrow shopping lanes and pretty squares peppered with café terraces and dominated by the medieval castle perched on a rocky outcrop. The majestic Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges is a bit like a trip through time, nicknamed the Mont Saint-Michel of the Pyrenees, this little village is a twenty minute beautiful drive and a definite must. On our doorstep is the gorgeous village of Aspet that provides many services alongside a Saturday and Wednesday morning market, we particularly enjoy relaxing at one of the cafe’s whilst watching the village life go by.
If you have an appreciation for nature and culture alongside comfort with a hint of luxury, then Le Château Aspet is just perfect for you.
